Apart from a slight breeze, the conditions for the 18th edition of the Meeting International de la Province de Liège in the Naimette-Xhovémont stadium were practically ideal. The new star of sprinting, South-African Clarence Munyai, set the best world time this year in the 300 metres. Additionally, two meeting records were beaten: 400 metres (photo) and 3000 metres steeplechase, both by women.
Clarence Munyai. Remember that name, because the South-African has a great future in sprinting. On Wednesday, 21-year-old Munyai is one of the main draws at the 18th Meeting International d’Athlétisme de la Province de Liège. On Belgian side, we can look forward to top duels between Ben Broeders and Arnaud Art in pole-vaulting, and Anne Zagré and Eline Berings in the 100 metres hurdles.
Since last Sunday, Anne Zagré can prepare the next weeks of the competition with confidence. The 29-year-old Belgian record-holder in the 100m hurdles ran the world Championship minimum at La Chaux-de-Fonds and is currently preparing for the Meeting International d’Athlétisme de la Province de Liège.
